What is PPNow?

Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Now (PPNow) is the BPC’s flagship conference which runs every two years. In each conference, the event looks further into a topic relevant in today’s climate.

The BPC are proud to host our flagship conference PPNow every two years. We consider the conference to be a core facet in our commitment to support our professional community and facilitate psychoanalytic thinking. We’ve been hosting the conference for almost two decades and continue to enjoy bringing together some of the country’s finest psychoanalytic thinkers. PPNow brings together practitioners across the psychoanalytic field as well as those interested in the work, to consider the most relevant and pressing topics arising. The highlight of each event is often the discussion it sparks amongst attendees. Our thought-provoking speakers have covered contemporary and cutting-edge topics over the years such as ethics, race, the COVID pandemic, identity, relationships and more. Discussions encourage those at the conference to think about how psychoanalytic thinking case help us understand society.

PPNow has been hosted in many shapes and forms, as an online conference during the COVID pandemic, a hybrid conference and through the cost of living crisis that has put increasing pressure on hosting events such as this.

Despite ongoing challenges, PPNow always proves to be a stimulating and popular conference and the highlight of the BPC events calendar. The BPC value the opportunity as a staff team and a regulator to catch-up with our Registrants in-person and hear about their most recent work. Now more than ever it’s important to continue to explore how psychoanalytic thinking can support societal development through the exploration of various themes. We aim for our conference to be intellectually stimulating but also practically applicable for the practitioners that attend.
