Sophie Linnett

I am an experienced counsellor and psychodynamic psychotherapist with a past career in business. I provide a safe and secure place to work together to discuss and examine the feelings and troubles you are facing. Together we can work towards finding a way of understanding those feelings, how they relate to your past, if there are patterns of behaviour where actions are repeated and so then work towards leading a more contented life. You will be listened to and heard with empathy, free to speak about yourself in ways that might never have been explored before. You will be treated as an individual, never judged or pigeon-holed. My role is to work with you to help you find your potential releasing you from whatever thoughts hold you back.

How I would work with you

I work, together with you, looking at how your history, past and early relationships and experiences have shaped your life and the choices and patterns that have been formed which may affect your responses in adult life. Some of these might keep you from where you want to be. Sometimes it is a mixture of issues, sometimes an unidentified feeling of disquiet, feelings which can be alleviated by talking in a safe environment.

I can offer both short and long term therapy depending on your needs. Our sessions would be 50 minutes and at the same place and time each week. I work from a central location close to Angel tube station.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP). I work to their code of ethics.

I am an accredited practitioner.

I have a MSc in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy from Birkbeck College, London University.

I have had a long and successful career working in corporate business and then running my own company for many years.

Alongside my private practice, I provide counselling at a Central London GP practice and also a UK national charity.

I attend lectures and workshops to continue my personal development and meet with the professional requirements of my profession.

If you feel after, our initial phone chat, you would like to proceed with me, I ask you to complete a few forms (ie GDPR, contact details etc). I also send you a form with 34 questions which highlights how you are generally feeling about your emotions. This can be quite enlightening as to where the triggers are most sensitive.
