Sarah Bastianello
Child, Young Person and Family Psychodynamic Psychotherapist
About Sarah Bastianello
I am an accredited Psychodynamic Psychotherapist with over five years of clinical experience, and I am registered with both the BPC and BACP.
My work is rooted in psychoanalytic theory, while taking a flexible, dynamic approach to meet your individual needs. I place a strong emphasis on building a trusting therapeutic relationship, as I believe this is central to creating meaningful and lasting change.
In our sessions, we’ll create an open space where you can bring whatever is on your mind—whether it’s current worries or memories from the past—and together, we’ll explore the emotional layers connected to them.
I’m deeply interested in how our key relationships shape who we are and influence the ways we engage with the world around us.
During challenging times, it’s natural to want support that offers clear, step-by-step solutions. While I do incorporate some practical, CBT-based methods into my work, I also believe that meaningful change often requires us to sit with and explore uncertainty because your unique life experiences can’t be neatly explained or processed through a standardized approach.
As your therapist, I bring my knowledge of human psychology and relational patterns, and I’ll walk alongside you through the complexities that may arise during therapy.
I hold a BSc in Psychology (Trento, Italy), and a Master’s in Psychological Therapies with Children, Young People and Families (Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust, London).
I am fully insured, DBS-checked, and committed to upholding the highest standards of ethical and professional care.
If you think that I meet the requirements for the type of therapist you are looking for, once you have emailed me to express your interest in therapy, I will offer you a free 20-minute initial consultation. This will be a chance for you to decide whether my approach feels like the right fit, ask any questions, and for us to think together about what brings you to therapy.
Following the consultation, we can book three initial sessions to give you an opportunity to get a feel for the therapy before deciding on the length of support that would suit you best.
The first session will allow us to begin exploring the reasons you’ve sought therapy. It’s normal to find it difficult to open up to someone you've just met—this usually becomes easier with time. The first three sessions will give you a chance to notice how the therapy space might begin to feel different after the initial session.
