Maria Chiara Barbuscia

I am a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist with many years’ experience working with children, young people and their families. I offer assessments, short-term and long-term interventions for a variety of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, self-harm, trauma, eating difficulties, school refusal and struggles connected to the effects of neurodiversity. I have been working in the NHS, in primary and secondary school settings, in the charity sector as well as privately.

After obtaining my Master’s degree and first PhD in Italy, I moved to the UK where I undertook a Doctoral training as a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust. For a period of time, I have been Course Tutor for the pre-clinical part of the training in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy (M7), where I still work as a teacher and tutor. I am also a Visiting Lecturer on other courses at the Tavistock and Portman.

I am a full qualified member of the Association of Child Psychotherapy (ACP) and a member of the Tavistock Society of Psychotherapists. Alongside my clinical work, I also offer supervisions and consultations to psychotherapists as well as colleagues from other backgrounds, such as teaching staff and mentors in schools.
