Kelley Holleyoake

Psychodynamic Counsellor

About Kelley Holleyoake

A psychodynamic approach in therapy allows us to delve into unconscious and conditioned responses laid down in childhood and the linked repeated patterns in adulthood. These might include underlying fears and anxieties and other unresolved or unrecognised difficult feelings, unconsciously defended against, which have their roots in early experiences, such as of abandonment and loss. Attachment styles and how they play out in your relationships with others, may also be explored through the relationship with a therapist as the dynamics of attachment become apparent through bonds of intimacy, which a therapeutic relationship with a counsellor emulates.

Psychodynamic counselling is a long-term and necessarily slow approach, to bring about deep, transformational change. In a warm and supportive environment, together, we will take a gentle, unhurried and curious approach to exploring your outer world experiences, consider how these relate to your internal landscape and to your relationship with self and others.

Sessions are weekly at the same regular interval, during which we hope to gain a better understanding of your unique self and the issues that have brought you to counselling.
