Susan Tyrrell

Child, Young Person and Family Psychodynamic Psychotherapist

About Susan Tyrrell

I am a psychodynamic psychotherapist , trained at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust. My specialism lies in providing psychotherapeutic and emotional support to children, adolescents and their families.
I have worked across a range of settings including both primary and secondary schools, as well as within CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services). These experiences have enabled me to develop a strong and thoughtful approach to supporting young people facing a wide spectrum of emotional and psychological difficulties. These challenges may arise during the complex transition from childhood to adulthood and can manifest in many ways, including depression, anxiety and difficulties within peer or family relationships.
My therapeutic approach is warm, reflective and responsive to the individual needs of each young person. I aim to create a safe and containing space in which thoughts and feelings can be explored. I encourage self expression in whichever form feels most natural to the young person, whether through play, drawing , talking or other creative means.
