Rebecka Wastlund
Psychodynamic Counsellor
About Rebecka Wastlund
I am a qualified psychodynamic counsellor, having completed a Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling at Wessex Counselling and Psychotherapy in July 2025. I bring over 16 years’ experience in social work, including extensive work within local authority Children’s Services, kinship care, fostering, and safeguarding.
My clinical work is informed by a strong understanding of trauma, attachment, and the impact of early relationships on emotional development. I have particular experience working with adults who have experienced relational trauma, loss, neglect, and complex family dynamics. This includes supporting individuals affected by separation, identity issues, parenting challenges, and the long-term effects of adverse childhood experiences.
I also have experience working alongside carers and families navigating the emotional impact of caring roles, and I bring an awareness of the systemic and relational pressures that can arise in these contexts.
My approach is grounded in psychodynamic theory, offering a reflective and containing space to explore unconscious processes, patterns in relationships, and internal conflicts. I work in a trauma-informed and relational way, with sensitivity to issues of culture, identity, and difference.
Alongside my clinical training, I bring a depth of experience in multi-agency settings and an understanding of the wider social and systemic factors that can impact mental health and wellbeing.
