About Iain O’Leary
My Background
I am a HCPC-registered Chartered Clinical Psychologist who has trained and worked for a number of years in the NHS, and, previously, the Irish mental health sector. I have worked with individuals and groups from childhood to older age, across many different cultural backgrounds, difficulties, and needs.
I now work exclusively in private practice, offering treatment to adults in East and Central London. As a Clinical Psychologist, I am trained in a number of evidence-based therapeutic approaches. I have a particular interest in psychoanalytic therapies, including short-term Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT) and longer-term work.
How I can Help
I draw on my clinical training, as well as my experience in the NHS and beyond, to offer an effective and meaningful approach to understanding, coping with, and developing on from your difficulties. How we experience and respond to adversity is often outside of our immediate awareness, and this can be hard to grapple with on our own. Psychoanalytic therapies offer a deeper understanding of our current struggles and the circumstances and relationships, past and present, that shape them. This allows for a better appreciation of how we have got to where we are, what is holding us back, and how our difficulties can be worked through.
I am dedicated to providing a patient and attentive presence, so that we can work together towards developing a more fulfilling, satisfying life for you.
I offer a safe, protected space and time so your experience can be understood and attended to with care. I am committed to inclusive practice and engaging with personal and societal issues of identity, difference and discrimination- whatever your experience of these might be.
