Book reviews Editor: New Directions in Psychotherapy and Relational Psychoanalysis

We are currently looking to recruit a Book Reviews Editor to join the journal team. This position would be suitable for someone who is fond of reading and writing in psychotherapy and someone who wishes to develop further expertise in working within a formal publication. You will be well supported by a professional editorial team and publishing house.

Honorarium: £100 per annum paid by The Bowlby Centre

ATTACHMENT is a professional journal for psychologists, psychoanalysts, psychotherapists and clinicians, published by The Bowlby Centre. We welcome contributions that advance the field of attachment-based relational psychotherapy and contemporary psychoanalytic psychotherapy.

The journal produces two issues per year, in June and December. Every third issue is typically a special issue. The journal has three dedicated categories: Clinical papers; these are reviewed by the editorial team and clinical research and original study papers which are considered for formal peer review. The third category includes book and creative literature reviews. These are typically book reviews but can also include short reviews of films, poetry, artwork. This section is shorter with individual papers being 1000-3000 words.

Key Duties:

  • To obtain and keep up to date with book publications for potential review
  • To match books with potential reviewers and facilitate submission of reviews. Each issue should contain 2-4 reviews
  • To provide peer review of clinical papers as part of editorial team
  • To attend regular online journal meetings (minimum 4 per annum)
  • To liaise directly with editor-in-chief in planning each issue

Essential Criteria:

  • A professional qualification in a psychological therapy or the equivalent
    Registration with a recognised psychotherapeutic national body e.g., HCPC/UKCP/BPC or equivalent
  • Experience of attachment theory and relational psychotherapy theory and practice
  • Experience of writing and/or publishing
  • Experience of peer review process in academic journals and/or willingness to learn

Desirable Criteria:

  • PhD
  • Publications in peer reviewed journals
  • If you feel you are suitable for this role but for whatever reason do not fully meet essential criteria, we will consider adjustments for exceptional candidates.
