Course Tutor – Autism Spectrum Conditions or Learning Disabilities
Anna Freud is a world-leading mental health charity for children, young people and their families. Our mission is to close the gap in wellbeing and mental health by advancing, translating, delivering, and sharing the best science and practice with everyone who impacts the lives of children, young people and their families. More information about Anna Freud is available on our website: www.annafreud.org/about-us/.
We value diversity and aim to have diverse workforce that reflects the community and our service users, in line with our vision, values and inclusion commitments. We encourage applications from all sections of the community.
Anna Freud works in close collaboration with University College London (UCL) to deliver a series of postgraduate programmes. The Postgraduate Studies (PGS) Department is grouped into two ‘streams’. In the first instance, the Course Tutor will support the delivery of programmes within the Workforce Development Stream/professional programmes, which includes UCL postgraduate programmes funded by NHS England – please view the Job Profile for an overview.
The Workforce Development Stream is currently experiencing an exciting period of growth. The longstanding Postgraduate Diploma (Pg Dip) in CYP IAPT Therapy offers students two shared Core Skills modules and a modality training route including Interpersonal Therapy for Adolescents (IPT-A), and population-specific training for working with under 5s and children and young people with autism spectrum conditions or learning disabilities (ASC/LD). The teaching is separated into two modules, covering the theory and practical delivery of adapted clinical skills using the principles of CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and PBS (Positive Behavioural Support).
The Course Tutor will undertake a lead role in the delivery of the teaching, assessment and ongoing development of relevant neurodiversity and ASC/LD modules. This entails responsibility for delivering two modules contributing towards the Pg Dip in CYP IAPT Therapy.
The successful candidate will have a recognised qualification in a core mental health profession (please view Job Profile for guidance). Significant recent experience of working within a CAMHS neurodevelopmental setting is required for this role. Furthermore, substantial experience of delivering teaching/training on how to ethically work with parents/carers and children and young people presenting neurodiversity and ASC/LD is required. An understanding of student welfare and safeguarding is also an important element for this role.
