Description

The Centre for Understanding Personality (CUSP) and DeanCross Personality Disorder Service are delivering a series of Clinical Seminars on Transference-Focused Psychotherapy (TFP) for Borderline and Narcissistic PD.

CUSP/DeanCross is an award-winning, innovative NHS service — one of the remaining teams to work from a psychoanalytic approach, integrating Mentalisation-Based Treatment, Transference-Focused Psychotherapy, and Neuropsychoanalysis.

The Seminars are an excellent CPD opportunity for anyone interested in working with personality disorders, or in developing skills for complex presentations seen in NHS services and private practice.

What is TFP?
TFP is an evidence-based, psychodynamic treatment for personality disorder, developed from the work of Otto Kernberg, Frank Yeomans, and colleagues.

How are the seminars organised?
Each seminar links theory directly to practice: a professional actor takes the role of a patient live, while the presenting clinician demonstrates in real time how TFP theory and technique are applied. The series has been well received in previous years for this close linking of clinical experience to theory, and is directly relevant to therapeutic work with complex presentations.

Who is delivering the seminars?
Dr Tennyson Lee is a Consultant Psychiatrist in Medical Psychotherapy and a psychoanalyst and member of the British Psychoanalytical Society. He is clinical lead at DeanCross Personality Disorder Service (awarded RCPsychiatry Team of the Year). He serves on the International Society of Transference Focused Psychotherapy certification board. He is Co-Director of the Centre for Understanding of Personality (CUSP), a research unit linked to Oxford University and Queen Mary University, London. He teaches on Personality Disorder nationally and abroad and has spoken on narcissism on BBC radio 4. He is a seminar leader on a series on Narcissism at the Post Foundation Course of the Institute of Psychoanalysis. Dr Lee is on the clinical register of the International Neuropsychoanalysis Society.

Joanna Bilińska-Gorzelnik is a certified psychodynamic psychotherapist, a certified supervisor of the Polish Society for Psychodynamic Psychotherapy (PTPPd), and a TFP-certified clinician based in Poland. She is currently participating in the international Teachers and Supervisors Training Program in Transference-Focused Psychotherapy (TFP).
She has over 18 years of clinical experience and works with adults and adolescents, including patients with personality disorders. Alongside her clinical practice, she provides supervision and teaches psychodynamic psychotherapy, with a particular interest in Transference-Focused Psychotherapy.
