Description
AGIP offers an Infant Observation course as a stand-alone course or to be taken as part of the AGIP clinical training. The course is both rigorous, rewarding and fully engaging. Directly observing infant development from birth up to the first birthday, alongside supportive supervision, provides moving insights into the life of an infant.
The course will be of interest to child mental health workers, counsellors, psychotherapists, psychologists, drug and alcohol professionals, doctors, nurses, and social workers.
It is an online course and takes place over four terms. It is open to non-AGIP trainees as well as being part of the AGIP clinical training. There are two intakes each year in January and October.
The first term comprises 10 one-hour introductory seminars where we will discuss ethics, safeguarding, finding a family to observe, and writing up notes. The following three terms will include: weekly one-hour observations in the family home, weekly one-hour group supervison, and detailed write ups of observations. Supervsions groups will be a maximum of four course particpants plus the supervisor.
It is expected that there be 1 or 2 vacancies for the October 2025 start, and late applications are being accepted. There will be 8 vacancies for the January 2026 intake.
