Tour: Freud on Love
Book ticketsOrganised by:
Freud Museum London
Description
In On Narcissism (1914), Freud presents love not as a luxury or simply romance, but as a psychic necessity. To love is to direct vital mental energy outward. Without love, the psyche risks turning in on itself.
To mark this year’s Valentine’s Day, join us for a short tour exploring Freud’s understanding of love as a movement between the self and other, health and illness, isolation and connection. Rather than limiting love to romance alone, Freud places it at the centre of psychic life, as a force that binds us to others and keeps us open to the world.
