Working in the borderlands
Book ticketsOrganised by:
Severnside Institute for Psychotherapy
Description
Two senior psychoanalytic psychotherapists from Severnside will each present a paper describing work which presented unusual challenges.
Participants will be invited to share their responses to hearing the papers, in two small groups. We may reflect on the qualities that are needed to continue working psychoanalytically when there is a great pressure to do something rather than continuing to feel, and to think, and to try to understand. We may also want to think about who we feel able or not able to work with and why that is.
The clinical papers
Sue Gottlieb – ‘Smell and Disgust in the Consulting Room’
Rob Clacey – ‘Obstacles to thinking in the borderlands’.
Julia Warburton and Mark Budden will lead small group discussions of the themes raised.
