Trainee Membership
We're excited to offer a formalised, affordable membership for psychoanalytic practitioners in training. We hope this membership offers trainees support, opportunities and insight into the importance of regulation.
Our trainee membership is designed for those on a BPC accredited training course, to better support our colleagues as they begin to carve out their unique psychoanalytic paths.
If you are a trainee on a BPC accredited training course and would like to apply to join the BPC trainee membership category, you can do so here.
It’s important to the BPC to be better connected with our trainees, not only because they are currently on a BPC accredited training but also as they are future BPC Registrants. We have therefore developed a more formalised membership offering. This membership is an opportunity from the BPC to hear from trainees directly, as well as to provide helpful information and resources that we hope will benefit trainees during their training and throughout their career.
We have set up this membership to connect trainees with colleagues and peers from other training organisations, Member Institutions and Registrants at different stages of their careers. We also hope to provide future Registrants with valuable information about the BPC and regulation, as well as the benefits of being a BPC Registrant.

Membership agreement
By joining the BPC trainee membership, you are agreeing to abide by the following:
- You will only remain on the trainee membership whilst you are enrolled on a BPC accredited training course;
- You will inform the BPC if you cease to be a trainee on a BPC accredited training course;
- You are not regulated by the BPC and should not claim or insinuate that you are;
- You can refer to yourself as a BPC trainee, but not as a BPC Registrant;
- Trainee membership does not automatically lead to registration with the BPC once you are qualified. You will need to meet the training criteria of your training organisation to become a BPC Registrant. If you aren’t sure about what these are, speak to your training organisation or the Member Institution you would be joining once qualified.
The BPC reserves the right to remove anyone from the trainee membership at any point. No partial refunds for membership will be provided part way through the year.
