About the Role
As a Group Facilitator at Gloucestershire Counselling Service (GCS), you will play a key role in supporting the personal and professional development of trainees on our Certificate in Counselling Skills and Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling and Practice courses. You will be responsible for facilitating experiential groups, helping trainees enhance their self-awareness and interpersonal skills within a structured group setting.
Your role will involve leading weekly experiential group sessions (either in-person or remotely), ensuring a supportive and reflective environment for trainees to explore their experiences. You will work collaboratively with seminar tutors, the Training Office, and the wider GCS Training Team, contributing to the development of trainees and maintaining high professional and ethical standards.
This is an opportunity to shape the learning journey of future counsellors by guiding them through the group experience, fostering self-awareness, and reinforcing key counselling skills.
About You
We are looking for an experienced and skilled group facilitator with a strong background in group work and an understanding of psychodynamic principles. You will hold a relevant qualification in group facilitation and be registered with an accrediting body such as BACP, UKCP, or BPC. While group analyst training is desirable, it is not essential.
You will have experience in leading groups within various settings and a solid understanding of group dynamics in a training context. A key aspect of this role is distinguishing between experiential training groups and therapy groups, ensuring that trainees develop the necessary self-awareness and skills for their counselling journey.
With strong self-management, organisational, and communication skills, you will be confident in coordinating with other training staff and upholding professional and ethical standards.
